A Message From The Maher Family

It is with profound grief and boundless love that we share the news that Collin Charles Maher — the founder of the Cocoa Classic — passed away on May 15, 2026, at the age of 19.

Collin built this race from a sophomore's act of compassion, turning a simple observation — children at a local food bank wearing worn-out shoes — into a community that put brand-new shoes on the feet of more than 1,600 kids. He was a runner, an Eagle Scout, a brother, a son, and one of those rare people who made everyone around him feel seen and loved.

Mental health struggles are real. They can be invisible even in the people who seem happiest and most full of life. Collin's family has experienced that truth firsthand.

In his memory, donations to the Cocoa Classic will now support teen mental health organizations — because Collin saw people who needed something and never once looked away.

The Cocoa Classic will run again. This time in his name.
